Madeira City Schools Special Programs

Programs can be cancelled if there is a lack of participation.

Special programs registration for the 2008-2009 school year will be held on March 1, 08. It will begin at 8 a.m. in Madeira Elementary School’s cafeteria on a first-come, first-serve basis. Doors open at 7:30 a.m. Each registration form requires a non-refundable $20 registration fee. These forms will be available at the door. The programs listed here are funded solely by tuition payments. Total tuition for each program (except summer) is divided over a nine-month period. For families with children in Early Bird, After School and Summer Program, the first child will pay full price, the second child will be a 15% discount and the third at a 30% discount. To attend any of the programs listed, a child must reside in the Madeira City School district. Children of Madeira City School district employees are also eligible to attend. Children currently enrolled in these programs will be given priority registration. Parents will only be permitted to register their own children.

The Optional Kindergarten Program: (This is an optional program – not to be confused with the regular kindergarten class). This program provides parents with an all-day kindergarten option. Children enrolled in this program attend morning kindergarten, stay for lunch and are offered a variety of enrichment activities during the other half of the day. The program ends at 3:30 p.m. This is a 5-day only program. The cost is $450.00 per month for a total of nine payments.

Early Bird Program at Madeira Elementary (K – 4): Offers quiet group and/or individual activities for children from 7 – 9 a.m. each morning school is in session. This program is for children of working parents. Simple arts and crafts projects and some gym time are available. Breakfast is included as part of the program. Annual cost is $1188 for 5 days per week ($132.00 per month); $954 for 4 days per week ($106.00 per month); $711 for 3 days per week ($79 per month); and $477 for 2 days per week ($53.00 per month). This equals $6.60 per day.

After School Program held at Madeira Elementary (K – 6): Operates from 3:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. each day school is in session. This program is for children of working parents. The students are served a nutritional snack and are able to choose from a variety of activities, including crafts, games, sewing, and outside play. A time for completing homework is also provided. Annual cost is $1,485 for 5 days per week ($165 per month); $1,188 for 4 days per week ($132.00 per month); $891 for 3 days per week ($99 per month); and $594 for 2 days per week ($66.00 per month). This equals $8.25 a day. There will be no program at the middle school. Children from Madeira Middle School will be bussed to Madeira Elementary School for the program.

Summer Program is for children who are registered for Kindergarten through 5^th grade (includes summer after 5^th grade). This program will be held at Madeira Elementary. The program will begin operation on Monday, June 2 and end on July 25. Parents may register children for three, four, or five days per week. Additional days may be purchased. Parents must choose a minimum of four weeks. The cost of the program is$154.50 a week for 5 days, or $31 per day. Costs will be divided into three equal payments with the first payment due on June 2. There will be an extra charge for each field trip, which is due on the day of the trip. Breakfast, an afternoon snack, and art and craft materials are all included in the price. The program begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at 5:30 p.m. Schedule changes must be made no later than May 1^st. Transportation by school van will be available for swim club members who have lessons. Everyone may swim once a week. Last year the children were transported by school bus or by school van.
