Shigeru Miyamoto has created many influential games such as, The Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Brothers. As a child, Miyamoto would go walking in the woods near his house- his adventures in the woods influenced many of his games such as the open world nature of The Legend of Zelda. In 1978, he was persuaded to join the video game field after seeing Midway’s game Space Invaders. After he entered the field, Miyamoto became influential in introducing many game mechanics that have become staples in modern gaming. Miyamoto has been accredited as the Steven Spielberg of video games, among others. Miyamoto continues to produce games to this day and is the “creative fellow” at Nintendo.
