Nintendo existed long before they were a videogame company. Nintendo started in 1889 making playing cards in Japan. In 1953, Nintendo became the first Japanese company to succeed in mass producing plastic cards. In 1959, Nintendo came to an agreement with Disney to start printing cards with Disney characters on them adding childrens cards to the market. They continued to produce cards when in 1963 they started making plastic toys along with the cards they were producing.
