Sophomore Year

As a sophomore, Butler started off his D1 basketball career stuck on the bench behind future professional stars Wes Mathews and Lazar Hayward.  He was still getting used to the tough competition and struggled to get extended minutes in games. As a rookie, Butler averaged 5.6 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 0.7 assists while playing 19.6 minutes per game.  That year Marquette was ranked #23 overall in the nation but only advanced to the Round of 32 in the NCAA tournament.
