Breaststroke is the oldest stroke. It is also the slowest. It has been in the Olympics since 1896. It is the third stroke in the individual medley (IM) and second in the medley relay. Breaststroke events range from 50 to 200 yards or meters. BreaststrokerIt is a short axis stroke, which means that rotation occurs at the waist. Breaststroke consists of simultaneous arm circles and a “frog” kick. Some well-known breaststrokers include Rebecca Soni and Ryan Lochte.
