Dive startThere is lots of equipment needed for swim meets and practices. As the sport has grown in popularity, the equipment has also changed. At meets, there are touchpads, blocks, and the starting system. These are used to get the exact time of the swimmer as they finish. They can also measure reaction time and improve speed, depending on how they are built. At practice, there are kickboards, pull buoys, fins, paddles, and snorkels. These are meant to force the swimmer to only use certain muscle groups, which leads to growth in these muscles. Finally, there is the equipment used during races, such as suits, goggles, and caps. These, depending on how they are built, can reduce drag by huge amounts.
