Meet Equipment

TouchpadsAt meets, there is even more specific equipment needed. Most meets have automatic timing systems that get the swimmers’ specific times right when they finish. To do this, touchpads are needed.Blocks Touchpads can be used to get splits as well as the final time.  At meets, blocks are also needed. Blocks are what the swimmers dive off to begin the race. New blocks have fins on the back to allow faster dives. Some blocks also have timing systems to record reaction times, which is used especially in relays. Another piece of meet equipment is the bulkhead. The bulkhead is a movable wall that can be used to make different pool lengths. Finally there is the starting system, which controls when the races begin.
