Track Tips

Here are 7 tips on how to get better at track:

1. For morning races eat a good meal to start out the day. Make sure this is about 2-3 hours before the race though, because you don't want to get sick while running.

2. Try to avoid soda or sugary drinks while running. This WILL NOT help your performance it will not work as well as water does. Even Gatorade isn't helpful unless the race is longer than 1 hour.

3. Runners get negative thoughts while running some times. "I feel sick", or "Does my ankle hurt?" This will actually make your performance not as good as it can be. So think positive and you will feel much better!

4. Relax. Nothing else can be said.

5. In the beginning of a race don't go too fast, but don't go to slow. Remember to accelerate near the end and not to go full out.

6. After your performance, tell yourself you did well. DONT say you did bad and be hard on yourself. This makes a difference on the other events you have to do.

7. If you choose to focus on what you did wrong, you can try to change it. Don't say your not good enough but fix it, if it is something you can change.
