Buckeye History

The first ever Ohio State football game kicked off at 2:30pm on November 1, 1890. The Buckeyes lost 64-0 against University of Wooster. Despite such humble beginnings, the team steadily began to see success. In 1922, Ohio Stadium, AKA "The Horseshoe" was built and in 1942 the team won its first national championship. The next several decades of college football were dominated as Woody Hayes steered the Buckeyes to greatness. The hardcore fan following has also given way to many beloved traditions that are still in practice today.
