Rio De Janeiro
Founded in 1565 by the Portuguese, Rio de Janeiro is the most visited city in the southern hemisphere. Rio de Janeiro is known for it’s many, many beaches! Off of Prainha you can experience for yourself the amazing surfing waves or if you are like me and would rather not embarrass yourself around so many people you could just watch the professionals skim in and around the waves. When in Rio some of the main attractions include riding the cable car up Sugarloaf Mountain where you can receive a spectacular view of the city. Christ the Redeemer, also known as Cristo Redentor, has newly been named one of the seven wonders of the world and is located right in Rio de Janeiro! Finally, Tijuca’s Rainforest is a great place to experience the outdoors for all the outdoorsy type of people. To get a feeling of the city it is recommended to take a walking tour of the city to understand the history and to receive lots of interesting facts, perfect for any history buffs out there. Rio de Janeiro will also, for the first time, host the 2016 Summer Olympics! I would love to travel here one day because I’ve never been to a Latin country before and I think Rio is the perfect place to visit! I have a feeling that once I visit I will never want to leave!
