The primary objective of Apollo 11 was to complete a national goal set by President John F. Kennedy on May 25, 1961. The were going to perform a crewed lunar landing and return to Earth. They also had to collect terrain samples, take photos from normal cameras and video cameras. The other main thing they had to do was put laser retroreflectors which reflect a telescopes laser back at it giving distance and other information like that. The crew consisted of Neil Armstrong, Edwin Aldrin and William Anders. Only Neil and Edwin got to land on the moon. It was launched on July 16, 1969.
