This website is designed to educate you about the Apollo missions.
These missions tested and led up to the eventual landing on the moon with multiple different objectives. Many included soil sampling, exploration, looking for life etc. There were a total of 13 Apollo missions though they skipped two through six because they got tied into Apollo 1. The Apollo program was the first United States space program to send three people up at a time. Previously, the Gemini program sent up two astronauts at a time and the original Mercury programs could only send up one astronaut at a time. Apollo space ships were three part spacecrafts. They consisted of the command module, the service module for the propulsion and spacecraft support systems, and the lunar module. The lunar module was there to take two of the crew to the lunar surface, support them on the Moon, and return them to the command module in lunar orbit.
